NTDA I need info from you ASAP.

Blake Wilson will create a master audition schedule for Weds 9/16. To help with this, please do the following:
1. FOR ACTORS: Each campus compile a list of students who are auditioning.
1. Make TWO lists (one for non-musical students, another for students who are singing). This will be the order they will audition in.
2. First, we will break into our panels We will view the musical theatre students together in one room AFTER we finish seeing the non-musical students.
2. FOR TECH:
1. If you have more than three students who want to do tech, we will have those students come present their portfolios to the panel. Please create a list of these students.
2. If you have LESS than 3 students, each campus should decide on their own which students to send, since each campus already has three slots for tech.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU:
• Send me your lists by Friday 9/11.

I will use the information you send me to create a master schedule, which I will send to you all so that you can share with your students. Auditions will begin at 4:30pm at Timber Creek.

Thanks!

Dear Drama Instructor,

Please accept my invitation for your top graduating students to showcase their skills at the 22nd Annual North Texas Drama Auditions!

At the request of the college reps who want to see as many students as possible, the auditions will be held on TWO DAYS this year: Thursday November 19, 2015 from approximately 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM and Friday November 20, 2015 from approximately 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Conference Center, located on the Spring Creek Campus of Collin College.

This event will serve to introduce your best graduating students to representatives from many of the top colleges and universities in the nation.

Invitations have recently been sent to College and University theatre programs across the country. We expect between 75-90 schools to attend; representing states reaching from California to New York. A list of those schools expected to attend will be updated daily beginning in early November.

The timing of these auditions may be a bit challenging, as they may require your students to be dismissed from a class or two during the day in order to audition and remain for the callbacks at the end of the day. The basic rules are these: Only those students who are graduating seniors, or students who are transfer-eligible from a local two-year college will be permitted to audition. Note: Students will be scheduled for a 1½ minute block of time during that day. Actors and Actor/Singers will each be given 1½ minutes to perform their selections. We will begin timing after their introduction. This time limit will be strictly enforced by a timekeeper.

Callbacks/interviews will be posted during the lunch break and after the afternoon session. The callbacks/interviews will be held in the Collin Conference Center beginning approximately thirty minutes after the conclusion of the auditions. Tech/Design students will be auditioned in a “Walk Around/Display” setting from approximately 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Thursday November 19, 2015 (see details below).

As this audition opportunity is being extended to students at all North Texas area schools, we must limit your program to no more than FIVE total “performance” audition slots (i.e. Actor or Actor/Singer). You may also submit THREE Tech/Design students. These Tech/Design students DO NOT count against your five performance slots. Note: With the expansion to a two-day audition schedule, we hope to be able to accommodate more students and more schools. Thus, we will not work in stand-by students this year.

We understand that this limitation may require you to choose one student over another who is equally skilled/qualified, so feel free to utilize whatever selection process you feel is appropriate to determine your top six “performance” students (i.e. GPA, active participation in your school productions, pre-audition, etc.). So that we are clear about which student(s) YOU would prefer us to work in to the audition, please rank in order your students. We will schedule as many of your students as we can.

At the request of the university reps, we are limiting all schools to a “Top Five” this year. The sooner your completed packet is received, the better chance your students will have to be included on the audition schedule.

Please begin planning for the North Texas Drama Auditions NOW, and RSVP the names of your participants (your top five “performance” students + up to three Tech/Design students) plus the other materials needed (CLICK HERE FOR THE CHECKLIST) no later than 5:00 PM Friday October 9, 2015. (Note: Students will be slotted onto the audition schedule as we receive your materials, so please submit your materials ASAP!)

Please also return an Audition Form for EVERY student (technicians and performers) on your list. Headshots are NOT necessary. DO NOT SEND HEADSHOTS. We will photocopy the audition forms and give them to each of the College Reps attending. Thus, please ensure that your students’ information is both complete and accurate…and LEGIBLE!!! (Note: Whatever your students give to us is what the College Reps will receive! If your students’ forms are sloppy, illegible or incomplete, then that is how the College Reps may perceive your students!) PLEASE WRITE IN INK… not pencil!

A complete schedule of audition times will be e-mailed to you on or about Wednesday October 21, 2015.

Please do NOT encourage students and/or Parents to contact us with questions. We prefer to communicate with YOU directly. Thank you for your help with this.

We look forward to seeing your students on November 19th and 20th!

Cordially,

Brad Baker
