Yvonne Phillips-Dupree, Misty Baptiste, Mark Pickell

Judge bios:
Yvonne J. Phillips-Dupree is a veteran of education who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from UCLA with a concentration in acting. She is currently semi-retired from the Houston Independent School District after having dedicated many years of tireless service. Previously, she taught theater arts at Ross Sterling Senior High School for 17 years and competed at the U.I.L. One Act Play State Meet five times. She has directed professionally at the Encore Theater, the Ensemble Theatre and the Fade to Black Theater Festival in Houston, Texas. She is the current President of the Board of Directors of the Fade to Black Festival.

Mark has participated in the OAP process as a student, director, and judge at every level of the competition. As a director he appeared at the state meet twice, placing 2nd in 2004. He also appeared twice at the state meet as a student. He has been honored to serve as a critic judge at the State One-Act Play Competition in 2010, 2014, and 2015. He holds a BFA with honors from Southwestern University in Georgetown.He is a past member of the TTAO’s Standards and Practices Committee as well as the UIL Advisory Committee. He is currently chair-elect of the TTAO Board. He has acted and directed professionally in Houston and Austin.He has received both a B Iden Payne Awards and an Austin Critics’ Table Awards for his directing and design in Austin. He currently serves as Artistic Director for Capital T Theatre in Austin, Texas.

Misty has been teaching and directing at the high school and middle school level for almost 20 years. She has been involved in the One Act process as a student, director, contest manager, and adjudicator and loves the entire process. She is passionate about encouraging the growth of students through theatre and loves seeing their courage displayed for so many to see.
